Dissolved gas analysis is becoming increasingly popular in environmental laboratories.
The RSK test, required by the standard EPA method 5035, is a time-consuming and labor-intensive test as it requires manual preparation of sample vials prior to headspace analysis.
EST Analytical’s LGX-50 system fully automates sample preparation for the analysis of methane, ethane, ethene and other compounds present in the headspace of water samples, meeting both the requirements imposed by the EPA methods 5035 and ASTM D8028 for dissolved gas analysis (RSK-175), as well as the need for increasingly robotic laboratory flows.
The analysis is particularly necessary for the control of water discharges from natural gas drilling facilities; in particular the US Environmental Protection Agency requires that the Clean Water Act be applied to surface discharges from shale gas wells.
